Emergency Room Ready

What:

Here at Parentfile, we’ve developed something we call being “Emergency Room Ready” and wow does it feel good if (or rather when) you find yourself in the ER with your child. Simply put, by taking a few minutes now to fill out information in your Parentfile, when in the ER you can literally hand the nurse or doctor your phone with all the information they’ll need, and you can focus on your child.

Why:

When you have young kids, it’s not a question of if but when an emergency happens. And as luck would have it, it’s often when they’re with one parent (often Dad :)) who may not even know all the most up-to-date information (what’s their blood type again?)

How:

1. Go into your Parentfile, click on My Children, and go to Childhood Medical Notes. Fill in what you can here, and when you fill something in, make sure to check the box to have it appear in your child’s In Case of Emergency Profile. If you have more than one young child, do it for each of them.
2. Then go to My Children, In Case of Emergency, and add in your family and friend’s emails where you child spends time. They will get an invite and a password to access only this page. If you have more than one young child, do it for each of them. It’s good for them to have access to just this information as well.
3. If/when something happens and you find yourself in the ER, you simply open your Parentfile, click on In Case of Emergency, and have over your phone to the nurse or doctor. 

The Result:

1. Talk about being a prepared parent!
2. If your wife/husband ends up in the ER, they have access to the same information since your shared Parentfile is updated in real time without you even having to tell them
3. You feel better knowing if an emergency happens and you are unreachable (heaven forbid you are away from your phone for a few minutes!) that everything that’s needed is already saved in your In Case of Emergency in your Parentfile
