Birthday Update Card (On the Day After Your Children’s Birthdays to Family & Friends)

What:

Here at Parentfile, we’ve developed something we call the Birthday Update Card. The day after your child’s birthday, send an update card to family and friends. Send a recent picture, highlights of the previous year, their latests interests, and more. Trust us, your family and close friends will LOVE getting an update so they feel in touch with what’s happening with your child.

Why:

We don’t live nearby all our close family and friends. They don’t get to see our children every month or even every year. And our kids get bigger fast, have new interests and develop so quickly. And social media posts are just so NOT personal, and often get missed with all that’s on the page. Our Birthday Update Card tradition is a great way to keep family and close friends in the fold and updated on one of the things that matters most to you in the world - your child.

How:

Ideally you send this on the day after your chid’s birthday - but if you have a child that had a birthday recently, why not send out your first one right now!

1. Find your single best picture of him/her that is recent (within the last few months)
2. Use the email template below to send out to your family and close friends - change it however you like!

Subject Line: Parentfile Birthday Update Card - (Your Child Name) is Now (Age Just Turned)!

Body of Email:

Hi Everyone,
I can’t believe it but (Your Child Name) just turned (age turned) on (date). I’ve created a Parentfile Birthday Update Card to share what’s new and keep you in the fold in a more personal way…

(Insert Most Recent Picture)

Where to Save:

Take a screen shot of the email, then save the image in My Children, Best Childhood Memories, Written Memories. You can then view them year after year which is such a fun way to have a snapshot of each of the childhood years!

Make it Ongoing:

Add to your calendar on the day after each of your children’s birthdays, and recurring annually, to “Create New Parentfile Birthday Update Card to Send to Family & Friends.”
